can an electric water heater work in tandem with an oil fired boiler with domestic water?
should the electric heater be installed before or after the domestic supply and what pecautions are necessary
Yes it can, but you better know what you’re doing.

I’m assuming you have a tankless coil in your boiler for domestic water heating or you have a heat exchanger. If you don’t, forget it. You’ll be mixing boiler water with potable water.
If you have a tankless coil in the boiler, go through the tankless coil first, then to the water heater – this way you have a storage tank for the hot water before it goes to the house.
A better way is to add a small circulator to circulate water from the coil to the tank so that it is kept at a constant. You use a secondary thermostat on the tank to cycle the circulator
Where can I get a heating boiler that's big enough to burn square bales of hay?
I live in the country where hay and straw are readily available , can anyone make or knows someone who can make a central heating boiler that’s big enough to cope with bales of hay as well as wood and peat.At present we have a solid fuel range which heats the water and semi heats the house, Later this year were having an extension and the heating system needs upgrading I want a simple system that can be placed in an outside building which will provide hot water as well as keep us warm which is’nt happening at present can you please help
update for you Re; farm 2000 boilers, i just read your other answer he is talking rubbish these burners burn straw though not hay hay is dried grass for animal feed straw is the residue from cereal crops the cheapest is usually wheat straw, you can get a burner that burns 1 or 2 small bales a day a bale is about £1.00 or so they generate a lot of heat so don’t be tempted by the big bale burners or you will have way too much heat for a normal household. check em out at www.farm2000.co.uk
Why does by central heating boiler stay on?
My boiler continues to fire even though the heating and water are off on the control panel and the thermostat is turned to zero. The radiators are hot. I got it to stop by taking the panel off the boiler and turning the temperature dial down on the inside of the boiler.

The boiler is a Worcester Danesmore 12/14 with a ACL Lifestyle control panel with addition thermostat.
Any ideas?
If the heating and hot water circuits are controlled with motorised zone valves then there is the chance that the heating valve has jammed in the ‘on position.
