How often should you have your gas boiler inspected?
what are the signs of an ageing hot water boiler you find in any household kitchen & how often should it be inspected by British gas for example ?
How long do they normally last for before needing replacing or parts need replacing ?
How is it best to have the Gas Boiler running – that is at intermittent set periods or on 24hr
constantly ?
I know if its on 24hrs at a time the bill will be high.
Thanks for reading.
Why should you not have the heating on when your asleep ?
Annual inspection is recommended for all gas boilers. Age is irrelevant. If it works as intended and you don’t wish to upgrade to an A rated boiler you don’t have to. They can last forever, it’s the spares that run out eventually. General opinion is that timed heating is the most economical.
I have a peerless 3 section boiler ,is it possible to add a section. to make it a 4 section ?
I just built an addition on my home and need to make the boiler larger for additional rooms and a water heater
YES
Is it safe to have exposed electrical wiring in close proximity to a gas boiler?
my landlord opened up the ceiling in the hall outside my apartment to work on the electrical wiring. it has been a month now, and no one has closed up the ceiling yet, so all the wiring is exposed. the Gas Boiler is in very close proximity to the wires. is this a hazard?
Tell your landlord about your concern and yes if it is hot near the wires and they are just romex type of wiring they are not rated at a high temperature near a boiler if it is more then 140 degrees and if the boiler is hot at that point it can cause the insulation of the wiring to break down.
They should be removed or ran in conduit to protect them for the heat and if ran in conduit it should be a higher rated wire such as THHN the highest rating wire gets and that is good to 194 degrees.
Would be better to re route them and get them away if not fixed soon. Drywall does act as a fire rated wall and takes the heat out to some degree.
