Glow worm are owned by Vaillant, Vaillant and Worcester Bosch are deemed to be the best in uk, (potterton are most efficient, but not most reliable), you wont be getting any of these from an approved installer for that price (manufacturer approved installers get better guarantees, up to 5 years)

It doesn’t sound OTT, as my friend paid around £2000 for a Worcester boiler and fitting.

That doesn’t sound too bad. Glow worm is not the highest rated boiler though. Check out the hvac ratings page at my source. Click on boiler ratings and look in the ultimate cateory to compare other brands. Then get at least three estimates.
