What is a reasonable price to have a new combi boiler fitted? (UK)?

This is to include labour, parts and removal and disposal of old hot water tank and bolier.
Thank you!

What you require is a conversion from a standard system to a combination system. Choose an installer who is approved by a manufacturer, preferably Worcester Bosch or Vaillant, WB give approved engineers 5 years guarantee, you are also more assured that the system is powerflushed properly, even an approved engineer may try to sell you a 24kw boiler with no temperature control on the hot water, don’t buy it, a 30kw boiler will provide 12 litres a minute (any less takes too long to fill a bath), a combi should be used with the hot water thermostat turned to medium for normal use and turned up to maximum for running a bath, otherwise, you put cold water in the water you just paid to heat up. Cost for conversion, with vertical flue (less neighbour or window issues), in airing cupboard, 1st annual service free, 5 yr g/tee should be around £2600, thermostatic radiator valves extra. Pay cheap and do it again in 2 – 7 years. If you already have a combi, you may need to move it if the flue faces a neighbour, about £1900 – £2000, British gas would charge about £4000 and 3000 respectively for this. Sapper is too expensive, even more than BG, and Oscar is too cheap!

my europa boiler keeps heating up to temperature then switching itself off. It cools then goes back on???

  1. I’ve just paid £957 for all labour and parts.
I had to get rid of the water tank myself though, which is quite good because I got £25 from the scrapman…lol

  3. Impossible to say with any accuracy.Cheap Jacks would probably Quote cheap but would likely cut corners. Large firms would be more expensive but usually more reliable. Your best bet is to get several estimates (usually free) compare prices, Get references if possible, then decide. From your brief description I reckon you’ll have to spend around £5000.

  4. these days if you get an accredited C.O.R.G.I. ENGINEER to fit one 1500-2000 pounds for everything

  5. With the work involved i would have thought you would be looking at around £3000 to £3200. It all depends on the alterations to the original heating system, and where the new boiler is situated.
Go to the corgi website and look for an engineer near you or as stitched up mentions about a manufacturer approved company.
Just get a few quotes and just remember the cheapest one may not be the best one. Make sure they are Corgi registered, and they have the Energy Efficiency, this will be on the Corgi ID card either on the front with a green symbol or on the back of the card
