was fitting bathroom so water was off for ages and the boiler was left on-will this have damaged the boiler permenantly??
So long as you didn't drain the central heating then it should be fine.Modern boilers are fitted with pressure and flow switches, overheat stats etc,so unless its an older boiler with a cast heat exchanger and you drained the heating then it will be fine.If it is the latter then you could have melted the gasket seal.
Probably. The motor may have burnt out.

It should have a thermostat to control the temperature so should be ok as the thermostat will turn the heating off when the temperature reaches it setting.

shouldnt do as long as there was still water in the boiler, and no one ran the hot water.
only one way to find out though, refill the system and see what you have done! lol

They have a pressure switch on the water supply. If there's no water there's no water pressure and the boiler won't work. Unless your pressure switch is knackered it should be fine.
