how much to install central air in a home that currently has a boiler?

buying a home built in the 60′s and am good with the boiler heating system but was wondering how much central air would cost? the house is approximately 1800 SF. ball park figure of course, i’m just wondering the range it could run. FYI – home has a finished basement but everything is available in the ceiling to run duct working.

$4,238.17

Depends on the drywall. Becuase you need return vents. many builders just throw up registers between wall studs and hook up a return venting in the basement.

Probably looking at $4,000 – $5,000 for labor, parts, and materials.

You need the duct work, an A coil in the furnace or duct work to circulate the chilled refigerant, tubing to run the refigerant from the A/C unit to the A coil, then run the control wire to the thermostat, the thermostat may have to be 120 volt if you do not have a step down thermostat, if it is 120v your going to need conduit to protect the control wire, then run the control wire from the thermostat to the A/C unit, plus a disconnect for the A/C unit, cable to run from the breaker box top power the A/C, and a breaker for the breaker panel.

I started my house with central air, a furnace, A coil, a disconnect, but no A/C unit.
