The Great Central Railway.
My first visit to the Great Central Railway on our way back south, made up well for the disapointment that the NYMR left me with days previously. In action were GCR 04, which I must admit is a very nice engine, and personal favourite 850 ‘Lord Nelson’, which had just returned to traffic after heavy boiler repairs. So, perfect all round. We took the ‘04′ from Loughborough to Leicester North and back, the outward run only being captured.
I forgot to take my tripod so all shots are handheld.

I live so near to it i visited it about 10 times. Its a good line, double track is brill. Rothley station is nice to, if you ever go there what i reccomend doing is catching the 11:15 from Loughborough up to leicester north, then the 12:00 from leicester north and get offf at Rothley. There’s a nice cafe there, and a model railway. You can have lunch there, can catch a train back to loughborough, and look at the sheds there.
