why does my boiler shut down when i run the shower when the central heating is on?

my combi boiler shuts down when i use the shower – but oly when the central heating is on at the same time… it’s contolled by a thermostatic shower/bath valve on a direct feed from the boiler (ie: no pump).. boiler is a C&M MX2.. grateful for any ideas on what the problem can be? thanks

This is probably due to lack of water passing through the system. Most boilers automaticly cut out when there is a lack of H20 to prevent damage and overheating. Just a suggestion hope it helps

Hi , it could be that you have not got enough pressure in the system.you can find this under or near your boiler ,open the valve from the mains water untill you get 2.5 bar pressure in your system.look for information it must be there on the boiler.
    good luck.

All 3 answers stand a chance of being correct, so check all 3, nothing more to add at this point.
    Best of luck!

Firstly do not do what answer 3 says…..The boiler pressure should be around 1 to 1.5 bar when the boiler is cold. If you pressurise it to 2.5 bar and then switch the boiler on, the heat will cause the pressure to rise and the pressure relief valve is
pre-set to blow at 3 bar, and could discharge red hot water.

The likely causes of your problem are a faulty domestic hot water sensor or a faulty flow switch

It is run by registered gas installers (RGI)
Put your question on the public forum and one of them will try to help.
If you need an RGI to repair your boiler, just let them know which area you live in and you should find some-one to help

it is all to do with your boiler, as soon as you run you hot water tap or use your shower your boiler cuts off the heating, when you stop using hot water, it normally takes about two minutes before the heating starts up again. this is what happens with my combi and i remember reading about it when i had it installed, it has nothing to do with water pressure, 99.9% sure of this.
