We recently had a home inspector tell us that we should have our boiler set to “lazy blue” flames. He asked if our house warms up really quickly, then becomes cold almost as quickly. We told him that it did, and he said it is because our Gas Boiler is using the wrong type of flame setting, and turning on and off too much. Any have any info on this,is this something we can do ourselves?
Thanks for all the answers!
Hawk1151, one thermostat is a digital Hunter (downstairs) and the other is a digital Hunneywell (upstairs), thanks.
These adjustments are not for the do-it yourself-er.
If there is a problem the orifices would need to be checked to be sure they are proper and the gas pressure and air adjustments.
A qualified person is needed to ensure everything is proper, after that its just a matter of maintenance and occasionally cleaning
I have a gas boiler from 1967. The energy assessment last year said that it had 77% efficiency.?

If you feel confident you will need to adjust the air gas mix, but the previous answer is the right course to take.

I am guessing you are in USA, any adjustment made to a gas boiler needs to be made with the proper equip , flue gas analyser and a digital manometer/ u gauge are the standard kit. if you are not competent in using either of these pieces of equip i would get a registered gas installer or a hvac tech who is, IT Is YOUR LIFE YOU ARE MESSING WITH IF SET WRONGLY!!!
